Depends. I usually play the game through the first time, but then cheat my way the next time so I can check things out, look around at a pace *I* want to, etc... Besides, even with cheating, some games are still difficult. And, some games are making it so that if you do cheat, you still can't complete the level or the game while in cheat mode....

The only time I use video game cheats is when I'm stuck on a game and cannot for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong or what I'm supposed to do in order to get past a certain roadblock. I'll play a game for hours on end and try over and over again when I get stuck, but eventually I get too frustrated and feel like chucking the controller through the TV screen, so instead I look for cheats online.

HAHAHAHAHA! the time-old debate of whether or not it's ok to cheat in a game. There are those amongst us who believe that to cheat in a game is to devoid the experience of anything meaningful, thus turning the experience into pointless meandering of stunning visuals. However, there are also those out there who say that the act of cheating furthers the experience into something beyond mere enjoyment, for it introduces us into a realm which, prior to the cheat, could only be reached via thoughts of "Wow... I wish I could walk through THAT wall." It boils down to... nothing, really. it's not like morals and ethics come into play when you're playing a videogame. come on, peeps. If you're playing a game that sucks (read: Minority report), sometimes cheats can make the game funner (read: still Minority Report). In many cases, you'll find that putting the cheats on actually detracts from the phunness aspect of the game (e.g. Half-Life). In short, if you cheat in a game, there's nothing really wrong with it. and if you let your kids cheat, too... that's fine. There's nothing wrong with learning the lesson that it's ok to shortcut anything you don't feel like doing...

Only time I see cheats useful is when you know the game is capable of so much more than it already is. EXAMPLE: Halo 2 is probably the most cheated on video game ever since the ranking system incourages gamers to try to cheat as well as softmod in custom games. Xbox bans a good 100 or more people a week for modding, bridging, and standbying in matchmaking.

i think that if you cheat as soon as you start a new game, then you just wasted money. especially if you're playing an RPG game or an epic game that took years to make.
the creators and the designers of the game took time to balance things out and to create a certain amout of challenge for the gamer. if you tip the scales to your favor by turning on the God mode during the first fight, then you're destroyed the entire gaming experience.
but, i am not against cheating in video games. i usually search for cheat codes when i've beaten the game at least once and if i want another way of playing it. sometimes i use cheat codes to get everything i want out of a game before i leave it to collect dust in my closet.

It depends on exactly how difficult the game is. If it's really, really difficult and you've been on the same level for weeks, then cheats are OK. But just cheating all the way through the game spoils everything, in my opinion. I generally just use cheats for fun, and never save the game after I've used them.

I have to agree with other people cheating should only be done once you have beat the game. The last cheat I used was on blood raven on the ending boss. Couldnt figure out how to beat the tree guy...still lost every time with the cheats though...

Actually I personally like a good challenge also. But its not a total waste of money. Especially if youre playing a game that is REALLY complicated and you cant figure it out. But yeah, just depends on rather you want to play for weeks or figure it out right away :)

i think that you should beat the game first without cheats and then you can enter cheats. That way you can have the best of both worlds and not feel like you wasted your money
