Tom Cruise goes on Oprah, jumps up and down on a sofa and admittedly acts a bit foolish. His next film bombs, and his contract with Paramount is terminated.
Mel Gibson gets drunk and arrested, makes shocking anti-Semitic and sexist comments and yet his next film tops the charts and his career appears unharmed. Is it just me, or is there something wrong with this picture?

It tells you that Tom Cruise can't act and a false religion destroyed his life.

Mel Gibson got off lightly because Tom Cruise is still known as an actor. While Tom Cruise still continues to make films and not admit he cannot act, every other person can get away with anything.

Can we ever be expected to understand how Hollywood works? Until we are there, it will always be another world. I think everyone was just sick and tired of hearing about and seeing Tom Cruise before he made a fool out of himself on Oprah. Mel Gibson's day is coming I think.

You're right. There is something wrong. But I don't care what celebrities do in their lives. It doesn't affect their films. If the film is good I will go see it. Or in my case, I purchased MI: 3 sight unseen and enjoyed it very much. People make mistakes. Celebrities are no different. But their work should not be judged on their actions in their personal lives.

there is something wrong with the picture, but its not just Hollywood. I mean, Hollywood can affect what films are made, but ultimately it is the viewing public that decides on whether a movie is a success or not.

no its not you. hollywood is the devils playground. its full of idiots and nobodys they just have enough mponey and because america thinks money equals smarts then it is ok for them to do whatever the hell they want. if more americans would not accept this behavior and the behavior of the rich in general then this would be a better place.
