They are empty inside, so they have to fill it with a new self-image of dictator.
But the real problem is the people who appoint the people who appoint all these petty dictators. The top must be cut off from being allowed to set up its children. We must have a society where the son of a millionaire has just as much of a chance of becoming a blue-collar worker as the son of a blue-collar worker does. If their children can wind up in the lower classes, those at the top will not try to make life miserable for the rest of us in order to make us believe we belong in our place. Start out with a Punch a Preppy in the Mouth Day. Teach your children that they live in a society where birth means everything and worth means nothing. We outnumber the top 100 to 1 and can crush them mercilessly and indiscrimately. We will tell them what their rights are with "their" money, every penny of which came from us.

Some people are power hungry and get hung up on social hierarchies. I am a teacher... many of my fellow teachers are like this. I can honestly say that I am not. Having authority doesn't mean much if you have to remind people all the time that they should listen because you have it. It's really about respect. I respect my students, I act like a person (not a job title), and I get that respect given back.

It's very much a natural, human tendency! It's how the Class System started. We NEED to be able to look down on others, as it helps us to validate ourselves. Even YOU are guily of it in a way, when you criticise you neighbour, or your colleague, or the guy with a stud in his tongue. In the very worst cases, it produces people like John Prescott, or Tony Blair, or George Bush, or any McDonalds manager! I'm joking! I'm joking!

The trouble with people like politicians, police officers, judges and such like seem to think the world owes them a living, they get to think that they are the most important people in the world but in fact are about as important as lice.

Human social behaviour is remarkably like that of chimpanzees and also close to that of chickens.
We are heavily reliant on hierarchy and boundary setting. This make us natural bullies and we easily discriminate on the same grounds as animals...different appearance...different behaviours...fear of being exposed as inferior.
