casual reading is something like a leisure time activity; you just read or write to just read or write. But reading or writing critically requires some effort, you should assess what you read and write; for example, if you read a comment about the Iraq war written in a page critically , you should be able to see the subject from different aspects; you just don't eat what is treated you! you think about it and draw a conclusion. It is same in critical writing. In critical writing, you can't talk about your past, it is not a love story, you just try to prove your thesis; you criticizes something by using scientific basis or facts. For example, you have read an assessment written by a educatur stating that teachers should give students many more homeworks above their levels and pace in order to urge them to study more; after that, you start to evaluate that article and suggests that the way of urging students to study more mentioned in the passage is wrong; it should be in a way that we shouldn't make students estrange from studying their lessons. This way is completely wrong. and your suggestion should be based on scientifiv approaches, namely, you must make use of findings of education.

I hope it works.
