Sounds like your sound card

Let's check a couple of things first. Unplug the speakers from the computer and plug them into a portable cd player, ipod or whatever you have lying around. Do the speakers work? If not, go no further and return them. If so, reconnect them to the computer - usually the socket is colored green but it may not be. If necessary, try all the connections - you will not hurt anything. Still not working? Check the lower right hand corner of the computer - see a little icon that looks like a speaker? If no, you do not have any sound card drivers loaded (or they are not working). If yes, double click it and increase the volume. try again. If it is still not working, you may need a new sound card.
