I have a personal HP laptop and have had no problems at all the past 2 years. We use them here at work and I support roughly 500 of them. We have another 2,000 HP desktops. We have very few issues with any of them. Most of them are user generated (drops, spills, etc.)

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 EU. I am more than happy with it. Good value for money can't fault it so far.

Not sure about the model you are looking at but a computer guy I know told me that HP's are much better than Dell.

Not sure about the one you mention. We have two laptops of the Compaq Presario type and I can heartily recommend them. My son is a computer expert and he chose the first one for us as being the best value for money.

Nice system, but there are two items that would turn me away:

1/ Small display at 14.1"
2/ ExpressCard/54 slot instead of PCMCIA which offers VERY little support today and is not backwards compatible.
