When you ask them why our troops are being sacrificed in Iraq, they will most often say "it's not that many" or "they knew what they were getting into" or even "that's what they get for volunteering".

Those don't sound like words of support to me.

ynotgayle - most troops don't support what Bush is doing in Iraq. Check the recent Military Times poll.

They will tow the party line no matter what, just like Hitler's supporters did back in the 1930's and 40's.

This is one of the reason I trust no polls just look at the way you worded your statement in such a negative way in order to illicit a certain response.
How about why are they still signing up, and it is all volunteer army and there is a war going on?
Why do a overwhelming majority of the troops support what we are doing over there? See people like you would never ask these question because it does not fit your agenda. Thats why americans don't believe that liberals support our troops.

Funny but it's hard to imagine supporting the troops from the eyes of the person who doesn't respect the lives of the troops enough to be against this war.

The only way to support the troops is to get them home, as fast as possible.

Of course, you are aware that you are taking the responses from separate and distinct questions and applying them to this one. This is intellectual dishonesty.

1. It's not that many. This is a response to the comparison between Iraq and Vietnam.

2. They knew what they were getting into. This is a response to the ones that are trying to desert without repurcussion.

3. That's what they get for volunteering. I have not seen any Conservative say this. For the sake of argument, however, I will pose that not all Conservatives know what they are talking about, like many liberals.

I support our troops, means I support the work they are doing. It means I pray for them daily. It means I try to support their effort any way I can. It means I cry when another one is killed, defending our freedoms.

Obviously you've never served in the military. Not only do they know what they are getting into, they accept the risk.

Where the true lack of support lies is in the constant barrage by the media of nothing but bad news, over and over. This relentless drum beat has soured peoples view.

Why do dems call our troops stupid for volunteering? Why were the vast majority of troops in the armed forces before the Iraq war conservative?

funny thing is that if you ask a military person they will say the same thing. Obligation and Duty..... but nice spin...

lol. again nice spin. that report says most dont think it has been handled well. yet enlistment is up as well as reenlistment... what do you think that shows? when you pick and chose stats you will always come up with the results you want.

Well thats funny half of the soliders are republican the other half is divided between independent and democrat. They know who the real supporters are.

Why do the anti Bush people hate them so much? I mean if you want to lower their pay and put them on food stamps? Or vote against giving them better weapons/equipment and reinforcements. Thats right you perfer to take away their benifits just to save a couple of bucks. Don't forget these people fight for us and deserve the benifits.

Look hear you uneducated hippy, How can you say that you support them when you reword everything that we say? We know how many die, but we also know the honor of these men and women fighting! I don't see you trying to help, that might mean you have to cut your hair.

That isn't support. I have never heard anyone say that. Usually, they say "They have sacrificed their lives for their country and their loved ones."
