You could also consider taking the train from Manchester . airport to Holyhead, which arrives directly outside the ferry terminal. I am sure that it would take about 2 hours and cost less than a taxi, and if you ask I am sure you can arrange for your dog to travel too.

Its a long way, approx 3 hours, you would need to confirm with taxi company first. Try a airport shuttle/transfer service first, usually works out cheaper. Type in Manchester airport transfers, a list should appear then you can check on each until you find suitable price.
