No, how would burying your head in the sand help a bad situation?
The good news that is in Iraq is miniscule compared to the bad.
Its like saying, my house burned down, but I just got a great rate on my car insurance. Which is more impactful?
If you lived there, and they built a new school in your areas, but at the same time you fear every minute that some nut-job will kill you, what do think you'll be more focused on?
The cup is like 0.001 full not 1/4. Don't you think that if things were going really well, we'd see that press?

What? The news media say something positive about our efforts in iraq? You don't want much do you. They won't report the dozens of new hospitals that have opened, or the new open air market for free enterprise that hve sprouted up, or the actual night life in Mozul, or the libraries and schools that have not only been rebuilt but new ones opened, or the new infrastructure that has been remodeled, or how the people love the change, no matter that there is strife amoung their relgious groups. Why report all that when you can tell American that they have suffered another death, and we are the bad guys, and rag on America? Don't hold your breath...this coming from a father of an Army Sgt. that spent two years there and knows things and has pictures of things that the media would NEVER print! I repeat, Don't hold your breath!

WHAT ARE YOU CRAZY?
do you know how many bottles of viagra would not be sold if that happened? Our news industry depends on negative stories. that is what gets the ratings. and the better the news rating the more they can sell their ad space for.
honestly, it would be nice if we could pull out of the city and set up bases around the city so that the no good niks could attack us at our forts. unfortunately, they know they can not beat us at a conventional war.
i remember a few years back the news folk reported that we knew what the late saddam was doing was wrong, but if we took him out of power that there would be a struggle for the power that he had. America and our allies are trying to create a democratic government in a country where lawlessness from the government was the nature of things for many years.
This will not be easy to be sure but i have heard that progress is being made.
i think that the majority of peoples in that country want to have a working democracy. they have the basics ingrediants they just need to get the no good niks under control. will they ever eliminate the no good niks? religious scholars can tell you the season when this will happen but until then i would rather we fight them in their country instead of loosing 3000 people at a time in ours. 9/11

I think that the reporting is ok, but it should also be balance with some of the things that are working in order to give a more realistic perspective.
I will explain in the 80's I moved from NYC to Rochester I had a female friend state that she would never visit the city because of all the crime she sees on TV.
I tried to explain to her that the news is distorted because I lived in NYC for 10 yrs worked till midnight and had never ever witness a crime. this reminds me so much of today too many Americans have a one sided view of this war and the media do a disservice of not showing all sides

If everybody believes the So called Liberal Media isn't reporting the stable information. I undertaking them to get a video digital camera, they are inexpensive fly to Jordan get a vehicle and head into Iraq. holiday around the country with the aid of your self, no huge militia convoys for risk-free practices and then convey back the stable information. i'm specific their is something stable happening between one hundred Iraqs an afternoon being killed in Baghdad. success to you all

The last positive news on the war front was on WW2 and we won that one.
We got the first negative stuff in Nam and we lost.
See what I mean?
Wars should be fought by the military and supported by the people period. The media and congress are the ones that lose the wars. They rant and rave and do nothing but anger people, they should all be put on an island and fight amongst themselves.

Since the "media" already have a blackout on all positive news coming out of Iraq, if we blacked out the negative news, they would have nothing to do and have to go home.
Come to think of it, that would probably be a good thing.

The network news industry would CRASH!
I do know that the military has done a pretty crappy job of getting good news stories out to the population, though. There are good things going on here that aren't being told. I was part of one of those stories on Sunday.
I hope it hits the news in the next week or so.

If we blacked out all the negative news reports, there wouldn't be any news coming out of Iraq. Unless they used happy news - you know - "soldier helps old lady across the street." The only good news to come out of Iraq will be when the troops start coming home.

Not hardly. If we got nothing but reports on how wonderful things were over in Iraq we'd see no reason to change anything, and we'd just keep sending more troops over there to die. We have to know the real situation, because lies are what got us into this mess to begin with.
