No, I don't think it's lame & retarded. There are some things that would take FOREVER to type, but I do feel there's some degree of laziness with all the acronyms being used (many I don't even understand!) & I can't help feeling a bit put off by things like: "U ppl ur..." & so on. Maybe if we were oral/spoken, we could just try to communicate with grunts! Letters have become almost a lost art; emails have switched to IM; IM to audio. What's next? This is NOT an effective way to communicate, if indeed that's our intention. (Just learned what "WTF" means!) REALLY! Most tiresome!

Not lame and retarded, just lazy...There are plenty of abbreviations for lots of things. Who wants to say: The National Association for the Advanced of Colored People, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, Internal Revenue Service and so on.
