Please help-- I am so frustrated!
I am trying to make a poster in Illustrator but I have a logo with a white background (eps file). I cannot get the darn thing to have a transparent background.
Ideally, I would like to remove the background in Illustrator.
Here are some notes on what I have tried and what is not working:
1) My Illustrator magic wand will not select anything on the image
2) I have tried putting it into Photoshop and I can remove the background successfully but when I save it and put it into Illustrator, the background is white again
3) I cannot find any option in my save screen in Photoshop to preserve the transparency
4) I have tried clicking on the layers pallette to preserve transparency but it did not work
5) I have tried the Help> Export transparent image, but the logo became all choppy and poor quality in Illustrator
6) I have tried re-saving it as an AI file but still the magic wand does not work
Please help! I am a total rookie at this! Thanks!

It is possible that the actual EPS file contains a bitmap graphic in it with a background. You should try opening the EPS file with illustrator/photoshop and removing the background in there if it exists then re-save the EPS file.
A lot of people send me EPS files which are really just JPGS saved in EPS. Very annoying and unprofessional.

Could there be a MASK in Illustrator?
Is there a white fill, instead of none or no color?
Also, have to tried to copy the image, and paste it into a new Illustrator page?
And I agree with the poster above, about people dropping any image (GIF, JPG, etc.) into Illustrator, and calling it an Illustrator vector image. Too many people at home with a computer who think they can do design work.

would desire to there be a mask in Illustrator? Is there a white fill, instead of none or no colour? additionally, would desire to tried to repeat the image, and paste it right into a clean Illustrator internet site? and that i trust the poster above, approximately human beings dropping any image (GIF, JPG, etc.) into Illustrator, and calling it an Illustrator vector image. Too many human beings at homestead with a working laptop or computing gadget who think of they'd do layout artwork.
