Rent. That is what most of the military folks do here in Germany. If you want to buy, I suggest renting first. That will give you time to check out the area and see how you like it. If you enjoy the country, job, village, and can see yourself staying there, then consider buying. Get a feel for your monthly utilities costs first too. Those can be a killer.
