**Do blacks get offended if they don't get the day off work for the Martin Luther King holiday? **
That is an impossible question to answer on a collective or group basis and get consensus. However what can be said without equivocation is that if the haters had left Dr. King alone he would be almost forgotten by now. As a consequence of how he was taken from amongst us , he is now immortal and will live forever. With all the things being named after and in honor of Dr. king, that must make the haters burn on almost a continuous basis.
I personally am never offended if i happen to have to work on any holiday, including Martin Luther King' holiday.
Have a pleasant day.

A many faceted question. Personally, i do have to work (chose to actually). and I'm not really going to claim to be the voice of black America, i hate it when Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton do it, and refuse to be part of the problem. Anyway,
1. if everyone else has the day off, hell yes.
2. if states don't even bother to note it as a holiday because they're still angry about the whole civil rights, getting rid of Jim Crow thing, hell yes. Some states still don't note it as a holiday, which is sad because MLK was rooting for all people.

Politicians pandering for votes surpassed that regulation. In Illinois we've a state holiday for Casimir Pulaski, for all the Polish voters. If Obama gets re-elected, we would have Cinco de Mayo or Ramadan made criminal holiday trips. Ethnic communities clamor for acceptance and politicians chase their help. certainly, African human beings are 13% of the inhabitants and hispanic ethnicities are 15% of the U. S. inhabitants, until the census count form is accomplished.

I see that the black people all said no and I agree. No. I am probably coming in to work on that day myself. Plus it is not a black holiday its an American holiday.
