There will be a 6th season of The Shield that starts on April 3, 2007. Show creator Shawn Ryan has also stated that they will do a 7th season which will be the final one. Hope this helps!

According to epguides.com, it should be starting tomorrow (10 Jan).
I rem an interview with Chiklis last year that said that the next season of the show was going to be the last one (season 6) but according to wiki, it will go to a season 7, and that will be the final season.

I'm fairly certain the new season will begin in February. I've tried to find out a specific date myself, but February is all I came up with. I would be so mad if they cancelled it.
