I have had two c-sections and my last one was almost 5 years ago. Unfortunetley, sometimes the feeling never completley comes back. The area all around my scar, about 2 mm around...is numb to this day. You get used to the feeling. Who knows...it may come back one day, but even your dr. won't be able to tell you for certain. Congratulations on your new born!

OK, I'm not a woman, but this might be of some help. I had some abdominal surgery a number of years back (small operation, nothing too major). After full healing, I did notice a small area of numbness near the surgery site. Over the years it has diminished quite a bit, but is still with me. The surgeon explained that sometimes the incision severs or nicks nerves which result in numbness. Nerve tissue regenerates very slowly, so even after the surgical scar has healed long ago, the nerves heal according to their own (very much slower) schedule.
How's the baby?

Yes, it's normal. You should regain most of your feeling, but as with any surgery, there is always risk of nerve damage when you have an incision. You should also remember that although your incision has healed on the outside, there is still a lot of healing left to do on the inside. My daughter is 19 months and I still have a little numbness around my incision.

The incision may have cut a nerve which will numb the area. It is best to go back to your doctor as soon as you can to confirm. Remember, never put your health on hold if something's amiss. You don't want to leave it until it really becomes a problem and it'll cost you pain and money.

It is very normal. My first c-sec was 15 years ago and my tummy still feels that was. My doctor for my last one said to me that it does not happen to everyone, but I have not met this person as yet. No worries after a while you kinda gets used to it, or it loses it's intensity but it will be like that always.

Yes. And 11 years later my tummy is no longer numb. Though just at the scarring, it is very, ever so slightly numb. I can tell if I touch it and think about it.

I bear in mind regardless of the incontrovertible fact that, that it took numerous months to get any sensation back. this is like the extra time that passes, the smaller the component to numbness is.
