Check your fuel pressure. This fuel injector unit is the 'spider' type that GM has used for years. It NEEDS 64 psi of pressure to crack the poppet valves on start up. It will run on less, but must have 64 psi on start up. Changing the fuel filter may help, but the probable cause is the fuel pump. If the fuel pressure is at 64 psi or above with the key on, the problem is most likely the injector unit.

Are you getting the full pressure that it needs to fuel the injectors im not sure but 8 lbs is it not positive. Can you hear the fuel pump load up when you turn the key to the run posiion not the start position?? I wuld also take a look at your fuel filter may be clogged enough to cause a drop in pressure.

You say the fuel pump seems to be working, are you sure? To be sure you have to hook up a fuel guage to the fuel port behind the upper intake plenum. You need to have at least 55 psi when idling and it should prime to around 65 psi. If your pump builds pressure quickly and then dissipates that pressure, you probably have an internal leak at either the regulator or CPI unit inside the plenum. Be sure you are getting strong and consistent spark so as not to chase the wrong thing, okay. These motors have a history of having corrosion problems inside and on the coil and dist. towers as well as there spark plug wires. They also have a history of leaking regs and CPI units. Good luck.

attempt taking the + lead off the battery back, with the point that each and every and each fuse and so on is plugged in and your doors are unlocked, and bypass away it off for quarter-hour. that could desire to reset the protection codes till finally there is a few ingredient else incorrect. If the protection keeps to be on, that's optimal in all hazard the eu, wiring, or broken key / distant it somewhat is inflicting the protection kit to freak out. in certainty what you have chose to do is do away with that protection kit from the equation - because of the fact it stands precise now it rather is the main in all hazard criminal. as rapidly because of the fact it somewhat is performed you ought to start up annoying approximately gas tension, spark, starter, and so on. bear in ideas it takes little or no for an engine to run (rather), meaning spark, gas, air, compression, and a starter to get themes going. The engines protection kit can wreak havoc on the spark, gas, and starter. do away with that risk and diagnose as mandatory from there.

Does this use GM's "crab" unit? If so, this is probably the problem.
