Rocks that are rich in kaolinite are known as china clay or kaolin (Simplified Chinese: 高岭土; pinyin: Gāolǐng tǔ), named after Gaoling ("High Hill") in Jingde Town, Jiangxi, China and were traditionally used in the manufacture of porcelain.
