Technically you didn't have an abortion if the fetus had died previously. You had an extraction. As to your question, the rule of thumb is 1 week post-abortion, so you're pushing it, but probably okay. You can become pregnant VERY soon after an abortion, so unless that's desirable, keep using birth control.

IF you have sex only a week after you had best avoid sex until after you get a pregnancy test, and try to get a pregnancy test done with in a month and half time.
It is highly and strongly Reccommended women do NOT have any sexual intercourse at all for six weeks after abortions, miscarriages, childbirth, or any vaginal surguries. This is said not only to avoid an immediate pregnancy while giving the body time to heal, but also to avoid infection.
I also want to say to you I am very sorry for your loss.

As long as you feel healthy and you know for certain that all your insides are safe, not injured, not scarred, you shoudl be okay. But it si a serious procedure, so you may want to talk to the doctor who preformed the surgery.

I think you are supposed to wait 2 weeks, or use a condom if you can't wait that long.
