It was a trip... Michael Jackson was black, Neon was cool, and I wanted a mullet...who knew I would be bald.

Freedom was the best thing I can remember about the 80's. I could walk home from a friends at 2am and not worry about bein attacked.
We could say g'day to our neighbours because we actually weren't afraid to get to know them. They were like our extended family. The clothes were BAD!! Leg warmers, fingerless gloves, Go-Go & Relax T-shirts(Yes I was trendy & owned both!) Music actually had a beat you could dance to, and with so many 1 hit wonders around you had alot to choose from!
Movies weren't violent like today. Fists were it. Loved The Outsiders, Breakfast Club, & Ferris Bueller was the man....
I'm getting all misty eyed....loved the 80's!
Were is my time machaine.......

The 80's rocked! The tv shows were cool, no reality shows, not many cell phones, and best of all, Heavy Metal was still ruling the world. You didn't have to worry about where the next terrorist will strike (not in the USA, anyway).

I remember one of my best friends writing a report in 1982, on a unknown disease called Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.
At that time her report read that there were less than 100 deaths attributed to the disease, in the United States.
We felt safe.
Sex didn't kill us, drugs were fairly harmless and our peers didn't bring guns to school.
It was the end of innocence.

I am now 38 I graduated highschool in 1987. It was hell. The style was horrible the music was even worse. It was the birth of MTV which is the beginning of the end of real music. People were fake and selfish. But that is just my experiences.

For me it was fun. There was Atari, Colecovision and SNES. One hit wonders and bad haridoo's. It was certainly easier than it is today. Movies like Better off Dead and the Breakfast club and less than zero. What an era!!!

wondering whether Ozzy and Metallica were evil...
trying to keep up with peers that had power amps in
the car and extra money...
being happy with just hanging out with cousins and close
friends, no clubs, no gangs, no trouble, just the feeling that
life (was becoming more "modern"(lol))
