Overpopulation, it is quickly becoming the most important issue on the planet. Those countries that don't control their population are looking at massive poverty and hopelessness. I wish the "big family" mentality of the mexican people would realize this. Their future is going to be very dark if they don't control their population somehow.

China's population was skyrocketing. In China, it is preferable to have a boy. People were having babies until they had boys, who could then help in the family business. When China became communist, they introduced this campaign. This states that each family is only alotted one child. The negative affects of this is that this didn't work very well. Families were now only wanting their one child to be a boy. Familes started killing off girls they had, or giving them away. This is why most children adopted from China are Female. This also impacted China's family oriented culture by changing there family structure. In Asian cultures, familes are very close to each other. The grandparents usually live with their grandchildren, and so on. This policy created smaller families, but doesn't necessarily control the population size well.
