Capitalism might, but Imperialism, which I am afraid it's become, will not. Imperialism is like a great big animal that is going to end up eating it's own dead because there will be no one left to support it.

The world is getting warmer. What's causing it is another discussion. That said, why do you assume capitalism is destroying the world. Capitalism has creaated alot in the world-- including the PC you're using to get to Yahoo answers.
Many in the US have acknowledged that global warming exists. The problem is that a) we may be doing anything about it and b) that we can't do anything about it.
There is no conclusive evidence that green house gasses are causing the warming by itself- there is no "control" subject to prove it one way or another.
Certainly, emiting less polution is a good thing and cars etc. have been getting cleaner over the years. They're way clearner now than they were in say the 70's even.
We have no viable alternative to oil at this point. What do you propose we do, stop everything having to do with oil?

I don't want, as an Englishman, to address directly the Amercian aspect of this question. However, I would first of all to emphasise stongly that global warming exists. In the UK, 2006 was according to the meteorologists the warmest year ever, and successive years have been warm. And you don't have to rely on other people to realise this. It is repeatedly windier than it used to be, and we no longer get snow in Winter. And when I was young you could never go around outside without an outer coat in Winter.
Economics has advanced, and I think we need to advance beyond the simplistic concept of "capitalism", just as we now know theoretical reasons, as well as ones of political history, why state socialism can never work (basically, to control the whole economy you need a controlling bureaucracy as complex as the economy itself, which is clearly impossible). However, the economic system as currently operated in the developed world has fundamental flaws that need to be addressed. One of these flaws the inability of current decision-making mechanisms to take the long-term into account adequately. There is a need to take peaceful steps to address these flaws. A book by a British economist, Paul Ormerod "The Death of Economics" describes the basic failures of economic principles in simple terms and whilst nearly ten years old remains very relevant: I highly recommend this book.

There is no conclusive evidence that global warming exists. Think about this: if weather channels can't predict with 100% accuracy what local weather is going to do, then how can scientists begin to predict what global weather is going to do?
And it's not about oil companies only. Every industry would suffer if America needlessly took steps to prevent something that might be happening. That means the cost of everything would go up, the economy would slow down and everyone would suffer because of it. I think we should continue climate science until we can conclusively state that global warming is happening, and identify a point of no return so we can avoid it.

First you have to establish that it is capitalism, as a system that is responsible! I 100% agree that the Bush regime has a stupid head in sand attitude that is exasperating the situation. But the largest crude industrial polluters of the environment were the USSR and Communist China, so you can't pin the blame just on capitalism!

chicken will it value $8 money for bottled water or $25 greenback for a happy meal. while will American revolt? replace : this is not a query of having the flexibility to handle to pay for an merchandise yet what standards are met so as to dictate this manner of value for mentioned merchandise. case in point who dictates that an common rock (diamond) be placed to a typical that somebody could be prepared to pay ridiculous quantities of foreign places money for it. in spite of what it takes to realize the diamond it continues to be yet an common rock. the element of the actual question is once you reside in a international the place human beings die from starvation, disease, between different issues. What do you tell your self once you're making a purchase order of a $5000 greenback watch that tells the comparable time as a $20 greenback watch? each guy or woman makes there very own decision as to what fee is to them bu

So what the alternative ? should all go back to living in mud huts and men go and hunt and woman just knock out babies and feed their men. America has its head up its @rse but that's nothing new, but they are starting to feel the effects of global warming, or is it just the normal cycle of the world weather and solar changes that happens over thousands of years ????

Only when people wake up and realise that it is a form of slavery or they run out of slaves at the bottom of the run! The rich rely on the poor to keep them were they are, cos without the poor there can be no rich.
You can't have one without the other.

Blame the cows. They create more methane gas than anything.
And China seems to be polluting at a far greater pace than anyone, with little or no environmental controls and a rapidly expanding industrial base.
