Say I have over 500 acres of land and am self sufficient on most items, such as food, water and electricity. Could I secede from the government and form my own nation, thereby no longer needing to pay taxes? I could then export any additional food stocks grown that are beyond my own consumption, as well as electricity, while importing a few items, be they electronics, petroleum and so forth. Hell, maybe I could even apply for financial assistance, since the US government is so gung ho about dolling out US taxpayer money to every third-world, poverty invested sh*t hole.

Ask any Southerner what happened last time that they tried that. It was called the Civil War.

Only if you had political connections and tons of cash, probably. Kinda like the guys in the movie The Village. But if you're just an average guy, the government will probably storm your house and throw you in prison for not subscribing to the New World Order. They need you to keep paying for the Mexicans!

Probably not...

The Constitution does not allow or prevent a state to secede once it is a part of the Union. The Supreme Court stated in Texas v. White that once you are a part of the US, you are part of "an indissoluble relation." If you could get them to let you take their land, by mutual agreement or by revloution, you could.

Hope this helps.

GOOD-BYE,

If you were your own country it wouldn't be long until you were in the sh*thole. What do you have to offer another country that they would want to trade with you. I hope you can make your own food, clothing, and energy.

I don't know about secede, but you can make it to where you are no longer a citizen and don't have to pay taxes, but you are also unable to vote, and have no rights. They don't have to protect you, or guarantee your rights.

If you are planning to start a third-world, poverty infested sh*t hole, please let me know your immigration policies. I might be interested in citizenship.
