I had to get stitches in my knee a couple years ago. Usually the Doctor will give you a shot to numb the area where you're getting the stitches. This feels a little weird, but the shot doesn't really hurt. It'll just feel strange cause you can feel it getting numb, and burning just a little, as the liquid is injected. Then while you're getting the stitches you'll feel the doctor pulling a little... cause the surrounding area isn't numb. But you won't feel the needle or anything. It's a very odd feeling, but doesn't hurt. You might want to take a couple Tylenol after you get the stitches cause when the numbness wears off it might hurt just a little, like a bruise, from the stress on your skin... but you won't need anything stronger than that. Sounds like your doctor should've just given you stitches to begin with, but I'm guessing the cut wasn't very big. You'll be fine. And it'll probably scar a little bit but that's really no big deal.

When you get stiched, the doctor will first give you a shot in the area that will be worked on to numb your skin. The initial injection will sting a bit, but after that you won't feel a thing :)
Don't be scared....my husband got 14 staples in his head and although he cringed a bit when he felt the needle, during the longest part of the procedure he was laughing at me caused i was grossed out about seeing his skull!
You'll Be Fine!
God Bless

Not really I have had 3 back surguries, 3 elbow, wrist, hemmroids removed, knee stitched up, although last back I had staples, they hurt really bad coming out...Stitches not bad...If it is not a long cut or deep let it heal naturally when it closes good use vitamin e cream or that cream for pregnant women..

Getting stitches doesn't actually hurt. The shots the doctor will give you to numb the area first are slightly painful.

The doctor will give you a numbing shot in the area to be stitched. Shouldn't hurt at all.

No, they will numb it before putting in the stitches, and the shots are like pinches, you only feel the first one usually. Taking them out doesn't hurt at all, in fact it sort of tickles and itches.
