Statistically : (which before the game was very important...it is how Florida got to the game) Ohio State ranks #1 in the nation
Game wise: Ohio State and Florida are tied with 1 loss each
Title wise: Florida has it in title only
The only fair way to really decide is to do a play off game... this would not happen every year.. just when there are tied situations as in this year..or just follow NFL guidelines on the road to superbowl...then title would be fair

That sounds great but with just like the BCS you will have issues with any playoff system that is formed. A playoff may produce a "true" champion but there will always be somebody to gripe.

In the current system, when you lose is as important to who you lose to. Texas lost later than any of the one loss teams, and therefore wont get a championship. If they beat Ohio State, there is a 95% chance they finish the season number 2, no matter who wins the championship game. Most everyone wants a playoff, except the money hungry conference commissioners. Don't let the media fool you into thinking it's just the big ten and pac ten holding it back. They tried to block the BCS, and the other conferences went ahead with it anyway. If they really wanted a playoff, they would do the same thing. If the Gators beat the Sooners, especially if it is by more than 10 points, then it would imply that the Gators are number 1. Last but not least, USC Oklahoma and Auburn were undefeated in 04, and the main reason Auburn was left out is because Oklahoma was undefeated all season and number 1 going into the season after a close loss to LSU in the championship game, in Louisiana, and USC beat Auburn the year before, 23-0. With 3 undefeated teams in BCS conferences, someone is going to lose out, and that year it was Auburn.

It happens like this every year. And it all depends when a team loses, which i don't get. Because Florida lost earlier in the season it didn't have such an impact on them as when Michigan lost the last game.

A playoff system would be really nice to see. Then that would determine who really is the best. But then, you'll have teams in conferences like the lesser known conferences, and the conferences that have it easy, getting in, when they don't deserve it.

Why does that make sense? The Superbowl isn't decided by who has the better record AFTER the game. Win the game, win the title, it's that simple.

I'm still waiting for someone to mention that Boise State went undefeated including a bowl game.

Ohio got stomped by Florida. Be a big man and accept the loss of your team.
