I think you could see enough of Vienna is less time, maybe 2-3 days is optimal. I've been there twice: 1st time as a backpacker, and I only spent a day there (and I felt that was not enough), and 2nd time I was there with my family, and we spend 3 days there, and it was plenty.
BTW, we went to Bratislava after Vienna, and it was great. We took a boat on the Danube, it was just a couple of hours.
Train to Prague takes between 3:57 hrs and 4:53 hrs. I could not find the the price here: http://www.oebb.at/vip8/oebb/en/index.jsp

a few years ago, my girlfriend and I went to Vienna, and was there for 3 days or so, and felt that we could use another day or two to continue sightseeing and exploring the city. So I would say that 4 days might be just right for seeing the city.
We did travel by train from Prague to Vienna (looks like you are going the other way), and I think it took 5 or 6 hours, but I can't remember how much it cost. Since we traveled during the day, we pretty much lost the whole day in checking out of our Prague bed and breakfast, taking the train, and then making our way to our hotel in Vienna.
In general, Prague is cheaper than Vienna for traveling.

Depends on what kind of things you like. I once spent a week in Vienna and there was plenty to do... see all the museums, visit Sigmund Freud's apartment and Hundertwasser's house.
The train ride to Prague should take about 5-6 hours.
Now, Prague is BEAUUUUTIFUL!!!! I lived there for 8 years. Message me if you need any info on that city ;)
to seeinred06: you can't be serious? do you really think that movie accurately portrays europe? b.s.

I've been to most of the european capitals and Vienna is not on my favorites list - prauge is so I'd advise to spend more time there.
The train ride took a half a day as I remember - the whole day was shot with checking in and out of hotels - but we went out in the evening so it was good.
For austria consider salzburg too it is charming, also budapest is not so far away and is quite nice if you have the time.

Honestly, I would go to a planning site, and have a professional help you set up and itinerary and a tour plan. 4 days is very short, and a pro who tours for a living is obviously going to get you the most bang for your buck. Or-- you can hire someone to tour WITH you for about $200 an hour. Seems like a ton of money to me-- but I know people whose businesses do quite well! A few hints to help you-- Go to the parks when they open. Understand Fast pass Eat at the lounges tied to the restaurant. Not the restaurant itself. No reservations needed that way. I assume you are a party of 1? Avoid EMH parks. Good luck!

Have you ever seen the movie Hostel? if you have, you might think twice about backpacking in Europe.
