why do you yhink italian people are lazy and not reliable??

I'm italian and every time I come to G.B. I realize that we have a terrible reputation...but why??we're not all like this...once somebody even told me "no you can't be italian...you are so quiet..."I hope that's why i only met stupid people

Honestly, Carina, you have NOT got a terrible reputation. The Italians are one of the most civilised people on earth. They have a heart of gold and a charming sense of humour. They are massively talented and have real flair. They do work hard and the belief that they are lazy has been disproven many times. It is only a prejudice due to the fact that Italians wisely retired from the sun at midday, and ignorant people who lived in cooler climates did not realise it was simply to avoid the crushing heat particularly in the mezzogiorno. There are loud Italians who like to cultivate a stereotype image, but there are quiet and shy ones too. Some of my best friends are Italian: they are absolutely lovely and totally reliable. If people did make stupid remarks whilst you were in England, forget it. It was rude, tactless and they are a small minority. L'Italia e bellissima, e gli Italiani sono molto gentili e meravigliosi. Pace, Bambina! and finally your English is fine.

Gosh, I was born in Canada of British parents and now live in Mexico and I've never had such an opinion at all. In fact I think of Italians as one of the greatest races of Europe (along with the British of course). Like the Mexicans, Italians honor the family, love children, respect tradition and moral values, love to party, make great food, are hot and sexy, and are open, generous and warm to a fault.

Don't go to GB or Europe again, come over here to Mexico next vacation! You will just LOVE it here and the wonderful Mexican people will just love YOU too! (and its totally easy for Italians to learn Spanish very quickly, they are so similar!)

You're labelling all the people in the UK for the handful that you've met. I think the Europeans, including Italians work bloody hard when they come to the UK and I can't see why people think they are lazy.

That's just another stereotype. People with any kind of intelligence understand that stereotypes are based on misinformed generalizations.

ur english is fine luv, but ur question is a bit harsh, i onli kno 1 italian guy and he works pretty hard and i'd say he's quite reliable too. So if it helps some people in the uk may think so but most don't, peace x

Please don't judge us all on the small minority of stupid people you have met here!! We don't all believe that - honest!

I've never heard anyone say this about Italians and if anyone ever makes rude remarks to you again ignore them!

Oh, and your English is better than some British people, so don't worry about that.

Sorry but I like Italian people but Im from Yorkshire and we tend to get on with everybody.People should take people as they find them and not regard everybody from a particular country as all being the same thats pure ignorance

I spent a very nice six month working in Rome enjoyed every minute , the people were superb , and found them industious and hard working , but knew how to play in there lesiuer time , and i made a lot of friends

actually, i think most Italians are hot. anyway, i guess it's just a bad rep, the whole mafia sort of thing. But i usually see the Blacks are lazy thing, not so much the Italians
