It is just like when mommy told me I'd get worms if I ate raw cookie dough. Somethings are much nicer in the telling than in reality.

Goto Federal Debt Collection Law on Google. Read it ALL. You have a lot of rights under that law. The debt can never be voided, but the collector can be forced to stop harassing by a simple letter. Be aware of your rights.

nope. If you owe the money, pay up.
Make a payment arrangement (what ever you can afford)
and put the harassing calls to a stop, while lowering the stress in your life.
I think it's more like after three calls, there going to get pissed enough to ding your TRW and screw your credit rating.
I once paid a $100 dental bill that I honestly didn't owe as I had paid in cash in the office, but 2 years later collectors started calling and said unless I had a receipt, I needed to pay. Oh and they had already dinged my TRW before even notifying me of the past due bill. (you're at their mercy) so I paid it just to stop the calls and put the word "resolved" on my TRW ding.

Nope but some debts will come off your credit report after 7 years if a bill collector is calling you at work it is harassment and they should stop if you tell them to

It was never true. You owe the debt until you pay it. Period.

Harassment is another issue, but will be very hard to prove against someone whose job is to call you to get you to pay your debt.

To avoid the calls, pay the bill.

The reason they are calling you at work is to embarrass you, and you might pay it off. None the less try to pay off asap, and if you can not pay it, then make an arrangement with them and come to a settlement , that you may pay them back in instalments, or lesser money at once. It is not harrassment if they are calling you to pay them back their money.

Not necessarily. It may be harrassment, depending on the laws of your state, but it still doesn't automatically forgive your debt. Best of luck to you.

Nope...not that easy. You can request that they stop calling you at work, but it will not void your debt.
