The only way to stop this feeling is to sit down and relax. Then you need to come to an understanding that there is only so much time and so much energy that can be devoted to one day. A good way to begin this process is to spend a day completing a whole bunch of little things that can be done in a day.. You will be amazed at how good you feel that these little things are done. Now for big projects. Take them apart instead of seeing the whole. For instance, if you are going to wall paper a room, dont fret about the done deed. Take it apart. In one day, I can strip a wall. Or, in one day I can primer the wall, ettc, etc. You will be amazed how good you feel that the job has begun and you will begin to see an end. It is when we contemplate how arduous something is going to be that we become overwhelmed and than dont want to do the job at all. We further burden ourselves by refusing to relax and feel guilty about what we arent doing. When we get in this state of mind, we accomplish very little.

I have renovated as well as new construction. Many customers find the same feeling. Do yourself a great favor. Start with a list of work in each room. This separation will set up precedence and ultimately help with starting each task and FINISH the task as well. Check for prices of materials and do your homework! Be prepared. Do not fall into the trap of having the entire house in a construction zone.. Good Luck.

I can relate. Just take a break and get away from it all. Being outside helps. I'm on vacation next week and HOPE to get some things done at home. I plan to work an hour each day in each room. You would be surprised how much you can get done in one hour if you concentrate.

Take one task and complete it. After one is done take another one and complete that one. You can not do several thing at once. By doing one thing at a time it will make you feel more in control and reduce what you have to do.

I know how you feel. Enlist the help of your partner or kids, if they are old enough. I have one of thosee wheeled 3 compartment hampers and after taking my laundry out to the garage (Where my washer and dryer are) I line one of the bags with a garbage bag and go from room to room and fill them with items that go to other rooms, garbage or to donate to charity. It makes it go faster.

Don't think about everything at once.

Choose one small project, and do it. Then choose the next, and so on. Never think about the whole schbang.

Before you know it, everything will be done.

Good luck!
