First there is heat which cause the formation of clouds,over warm tropical waters( water vapor) ,by the earth spinning on its axis any form of low pressure area in the northern hemisphere,is going to be an anti clock wise direction and High pressure clock wise,and the opposite direction in the Southern Hemisphere or the Coriolis effect.

If conditions are right ( no form of sharing in the upper atmosphere,were cloud tops or thunder storm activity is being ripped a part by westerly winds),the clouds will become more tightly compact meaning the system is more organized into a stronger low,of unstable weather,more violent winds heavy down pours and etc;if winds move above the 75 mile per hour mark it is a category 1 hurricane.
But,it is the north east trade winds that are responsible for driving these immense systems across the Atlantic.
By now you must be wondering,how is that the majority turn north? well this is due of course to the planet Coriolis effect on wind pattern,or the westerly winds in the Northern hemisphere,or simply put the jet stream,moving from west to east,which is responsible for the weather pattern over much of North America.

As this great mass of air moves it carries along with it cold fronts which is more power full than a hurricane,which cause a normal west moving hurricane to turn north bound,and inflict its power on any land mass in its path.

Before we talk about hurricanes, what do you know about water, if you are wet you will also probably get cold, right? Why, because when water evaporates it has a cooling effect. It should be no surprise that when water vapor condenses you would get heat.

Air does weigh something. You might not think so because most things you deal with are heavier than air. If you were a fish you might not think water had weight. When water is heated (not boiling) you just get hot water but when air, or any gas is heated it expands. When air is hot it takes up more space, because of this it is lighter than cool air.

Have you ever noticed that if you fill a glass with ice it gets wet on the outside? Cold causes condensation. (yes I know which makes heat).

Back to hurricanes, condensation (or rain), hot air that floats above the surrounding air, the spin of the earth that causes a twisting effect, as air rises it cools down and condenses making rain. As the rising air shoots out the top of the hurricane more warm moist air is sucked in underneath. To form a hurricane all you need is a small area of low pressure, warm moist air, condensation, the twisting force of the spinning earth. I don't know what your plans are just don't send it here.

the convection currents between the moist water and dry air. as moisture evaporates it rises until enormous amounts of heated moist air are twisted high in the atmosphere. The winds begin to circle and if strong enough a eye wall forms. hurricanes are the same as typhoons but typhoons form on the west side of the international date line
