Hi people.I'm Iranian and I live in Iran. When I chat with people from other countries, I understand that they have totally wrong ideas about Iran.I just wrote this article to correct you.
The first thing they accuse our government of, is that they don't let you be free.Actually, Iranians would be some of the most free people in the world, since thousands of millions of strict rules in other countries, don't even excist in Iran. Our goverment tried to not to let western cultures influence ours, by prohibiting videos and sattelites, but in Iran every single house has one, so the government's agreed with having them.Currently, they don't provide high-speed internet, cos they think people may watch sextual and immoral films on the internet, however the highest speed in Iran at present is 128 k, but they're now thinking of providing 500 k speed.I know whatever our government says is for our own good. You know why? Let me give you an example:I suppose kissing in public is not forbiddon where you live, cos it's a part of your culture. But doing the same thing here is offensive. It's not that it's bad or something. You need to act according to your culture.People who don't, and have unreasonable behaviour that is considered immoral behaviour, are considered hooligans. Sattelite channels had a serious influence on people, now the way they wear clothes sounds like western countries, only there's scarves that don't don't seem to be worn because we're Muslems.People wear fashionable scarves to make themselves more attractive and most part of they hair is out. They do whatever they wish to, and some of the things they do, don't fit our culture at all, however it's now slighty normal in Iran, since people seem to have got used to such acts and behavioures. Most of the rules that seem not to be reasonable are abolished almost afer 1-2 years, because people really don't obey them.Whether those rules exist or not Iranians do whatever they wish to! You really need to pay a visit to Iran and you'll be surprised seeing that what you imagined before and how the real Iran is! It's wonderful, believe me.People, the Iran you knew, is related to at least 20 years ago, and now everything's so great.
Some people think music is forbidden in Iran, but did you know that Iranian pop music has won the nobel prize in France?Iran's full of music nd they're all current pop music. The best you've ever heard, and in case you're curious to hear some, e-mail me and I'll send you some.
Oh, and some people think women don't have any rights in Iran! What would you tell me if I tell you that women are now overtaking Iran? They're treated very well, most of the times they're the winners in most cases: They get into the best universities, they get the best jobs, they've got rights that have made it difficult for men to marry them, because husbands seem to be under control of women and they have to buy them expensive things and treat them very well, otherwise women will have the right to divorce them, and then the husband'll have to pay them a great amount of money which most husbands cannot afford paying that amount of money! (so they can simply sit in the corner of prison! lol)
Some people think, Iran's a desert! People Iran's a modern country with very beautiful nature and lots of historical places to visit. Please take a look at the following links and see if Iran looks like what you think or not!

See how the media are fooling people? None of the things you hear on the media about Iran are true. So, please don't worry about us, cos we're really free.Ok?

I thought it's better to clarify some political matters as well:
Some of the Americans I chatted with (not all of them), said here in the U.S it's said that president Ahmadinejad hates the U.S and Israel and wants to nuck them!! Now, this is so odd, their media is good at putting comments, it's easy to show a video or an image of our president or leader on the T.V screen or on the internet and say he says this, he says that.....
First of all you should know that Iranians don't hate anyone, if our government complains about some injustice that's now going on in the world, it's not bad.Is it? Nor do we hate Jews, nor do we hate Americans. They're both nice people. If they're media is fooling them, it's not their fault. If I were in thier shoes, I would hate Iran too regarding all the terrible lies they keep hearing about it nearly everyday.Who says we want to force the others to convert to Islam?Have you ever found a Muslem that knocks at your door and asks you to do so?Who says we call Americans athiests? That's so funny, Christians and Jews are both God believers. We've never disrespected them.I wonder why the media like putting words in our mouth and raising hatred. In Iran, religion would be the least important thing, it means that where you come from and what you're religion is, are not important for us at all.And I wonder why some Muslim countries think there's a problem between Shittes and Sunnies, it doesn't make sence in Iran.
I wonder Iran is a threat to whom? How is it possible for Iran to nuke somewhere while it doesn't have any nukes?!!!(The media have never been intelligent liars).Has Iran ever attacked anywhere?Wasn't that Iraq that attacked us with support from you-khow-who?
Some of them say he said: Israel should be wiped off the map! But have they told you the rest of it and that why he's said this at all? If you know a little literature, you know that it's a passive sentence. He's never said that IRAN wants to wipe Israel off the map! Iran is ready to defend itself, but it's not an offensive country and we've got a lot of defensive weapons not offensive ones, while most countries have nukes and are clearly threatening Iran to nuke us! Good isn't it? Some say he's said: Holocaust is a myth! Ok, he's said this, but is saying it a crime? If 6000 Jews were killed, that's so terrible, but those 300000 Shitte Moslems who were killed by Seddam aren't important at all! (and who gave him those biological weapons? You well know that) When Fox News simply says: America and Israel can destroy and kill all Iran's 690000000 population (I saw this with my own eyes on the Fox News web-site), it's no problem.But...

Thank u for writing that, very informative. I also believe that the media r fear mongers and will say whatever they want in order to scare ppl. Why not write about the good in the world, everytime u turn on the TV all u see is all the bad. I guess better ratings eh? Wouldnt it be nice if we were all able to live in peace, let ppl be who they r, believe in the Gods they believed in. As long as ppl see everyone equally there would be no worries, oh what a nice dream. Maybe one day, not in my lifetime but perhaps in my childrens.. peace...

You write awfully good English coming from Iran, so I kinda doubt your post is authentic.

I saw a documentary on CNN about Iran, and what you describe about it seems very similar to what I saw. I've heard that behind closed doors, Iran isn't very different than the US in terms of its people. It is a bit of a shame though, the laws and customs that seem to strangle your society in public (like simply not being able to kiss someone)?

I know there is no conclusive proof that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons, although it is pursuing nuclear technology, and figure of speech or otherwise, saying that Israel deserves to be wiped off the map is a cause for alarm. If someone said Iran should be wiped off the map, would that not alarm you or your government? And denying the holocaust is wrong. Just about as wrong as seizing Middle Eastern lands for the Jews (aka Israel). Two wrongs do not make a right, although I can understand the Middle East being bitter about Israel. Frankly in terms of its creation, I am too.

Everyone has an agenda. I think it is impossible to say that a particular view is wrong (except when lies are exposed). My sugestion is to read from different sources if you can but even this can be difficult when the media corporations are global and owned by a surprisingly small number of people. For example, when the Pope or our leaders start "preaching" to us about islam, then make the effort to find out about islam from muslims. Some suggestions below...

I really like your question. Yes, many in our country hear only part of a story and formulate opinions on a limited understanding. Actually, your question answers the question many will ask here in America - "Why are we in Iraq when Iran is more of a threat?" Informed citizens understand that Iran is headed by a man who is desparate to keep power has lower popularity in his country than Bush does in ours. The culture is hungry for the ideals of freedom and civil rights in your country, so Ahmeddinejad then says things to divert your displeasure and create more national unity. He gets a lot of attention from our western media and makes makes him appear a more prominant figure. America has been attacked by a philosophy, not a nation, and has moved the battle off our shores to a country that had proven a bigger nusiance. whether that be the right or wrong move is the cause of much debate here. However, we have not taken the battle to your country and the intelligent citizen understands why - much of what you pointed out in your question.

As to the difference in your culture from ours, I think you will find some brash people who make it seem otherwise, but most of us feel that other cultures are to be respected as long as they don't seek to destroy western culture. this includes the island of western culture in your part of the world known as Israel. Likewise said, many of my countrymen have different opinions on our allegiance to the Israelis, the Holocaust, the level of nuclear threat posed by your country, and many don't realize just how modern Iran is and how you are a unique people from the Arab people. I can't say that you have convinced me that your leader is void of malice towards us, but you bring forth some great information.

I respect other peoples cultures.every country has the right to there own culture.ways and beliefs and the right to have nuclear power and weapons.your leaders have right to say whatever they wont to as long as they don't attack others.this should be a free world where people can say what they wont to.they will soon bomb your country because the Israelis wont to.they have nukes and don't wont Y'all to have them.which is your right to have them if you wont .The feds are controlled by the Jews to an extent.its a shame.the American sheeple just go along with the propaganda.your country is doomed sorry. If I could do something I would. but you will be attacked soon. The only thing I can do is pray for Y'all.I dont think you people will take it and will declare war on the jews and the U.S after we or the jews bomb you.and I wont blame you.I respect Y'all for standing up for your rights. But your country will be bombed into submission.and by the way if he doesnt believe there was a mass killing of jews. hey. I believe in flying saucers. and some people disagree with me. so what?everyone has a right to there oppinion.I would fight to the death for the right for someone to disagree with me.Thats silly to get upset because some one person doesnt believe something.a country shouldnt be attcked just because maybe they might someday have a weapon.that they say there not deviseing.and makeing.to me thats crazy. as it was crazy to attack Iraq because he might. maybe. could have. had some weapons.countrys have weapons. every country has weapons.we have weapons. Israel has nukes. whats the big deal. if you attack we attack back.thats how its supposed to be done.Peace. I wish you the best.

Some people here in the USA aren't smart enough to do the research for themselves, therefore they depend on the Media to inform them about current events. It's sad that the world can not get along, but in my 51 years I haven't seen peace yet and I probably never will. There are those who care about other people in other countries, but now, it's just one big mess and US citizens are very judge mental of others that are different from them. Not everyone is an ***, but we are getting closer than ever before.

Well, your article was interesting. How do you feel about Christianity and Judaism? Your society, and with your Government's support, strap explosives to your bodies and kill. Not only yourselves, but innocent people. Your government supports the manufacturing and use of IE-D's in Iraq which kill Americans as well as innocents.I feel you are brainwashed into believing in everything you gov. tells you.As far as kissing in public, it is great. Not all Americans,Christians, and Jews are bad.If only all religions could coexist. I believe it will all come to Cristians vs Muslims. God help us all.Remember the crusades?

The problem is not that people don't want to hear the truth. The problem is that not many people know how to speak the truth anymore. Too many people lie so much that they don't know what the truth is. Media would rather lie because it gets them better ratings and more viewers. Government would rather lie because it meets their agenda more conviently then truth.

I don't want to hear the truth, nor do I want to read all of that.

BUT.. I went and read it anyway, and i'd say that you are probably not Iranian... You are probably some half american/half "something-else" living somewhere in Southern California, young of age, and on here to see how many responses you can get by pretending that you're Iranian and lying about their culture.

Get a life.
