A typical serving is 1 to 3 times the size of their head. Feed babies daily, yearlings every other day, and adults every three days.
Overfeeding is easy, so we use the above guidelines. A good diet for babies is pretty simple:
- 25-50% good quality turtle pellets
- Live or frozen/thawed 'fish foods' like small fish, bugs, worms, shrimp, etc. Babies especially like blood worms.
- Beef heart (can be frozen and used as needed.)
As the turtle gets older, over about 4", add plants.

I've had baby sliders and adults. We fed the babies everyday- small crickets & aquatic turtle pellets. Now that the turtles are older, they get fed every other day. It's usualy a good idea to feed them in a separate container so you don't have to keep cleaning their tank (they can be very messy eaters!). Good luck with them.

Babies have a high metabolism and growth rate. I suggest feeding Reptomin everyday, only as much as they eat. As the turtles get larger feeding can decrease to every other day or so.

I feed my sliders every day. Many people feed every other day, I just feed mine less but everyday. It is up to you though.
