I watched the film last night and am still confused at the boat shoot out, did that happen or was that made up?

the shoot out actually happened the story about who did the shooting was false (Kevin Spacey's character was the shooter)
The movie opens with the shooting then the story begins with Kevin Spacey's character being interviewed as the only living Usual Suspect. He tells the truth on how he met each person in jail, and if you pay attention to the movie even though it was suddle you will see that he set each of the other suspects up and then killed them the moment they realized it was him he told the police a story making it sound like he was actually at the wrong place at the wrong time

Yes it happened in the film. Keyser Sose executed Gabriel Byrne;s character on the boat.
The bits that are made up are whatever Verbal Kint says in the police station. He invented it all.

Yes it happened but Verbal Kent did not sit on the dock he went and executed McMann and a couple of other people
