Bandwidth is the MAXIMUM 'flow rate' of your 'pipe' to the ISP.

You will almost never get the maximum so the greater the maximum the greater the actual but not in a direct way.

bandwidth is the name used for the speed at which your internet connection is set by
for instance a 2mb bandwidth means in thoery you should get download speeds of up to 2m/bits per second, however like the previous answer said this never happens due to network traffic and also it matters how far you are from your local exchange, the nearer the better
just to giive you another example,i have a 8mb bandwidth connection speed and my max download speed is around 300kb/sec so the speed you have(107.07kb/sec)is about right
however i use a download manager called gigaget(http://www.download.com/Gigaget-Download-Manager/3640-2071_4-10503295.html),this is totally safe and can increase your download speed by 100%,the way this works is by scanning for alternative download sites and then joining them together to form a larger and faster download,it automatically starts when a download is activated, however it wont work with firefox
give it a go,you will notice a marked improvement, and all the downloaded files will be sent to a folder called "td download" in local disk c
i hope this helps
p.s dont use any other download managers as some contain spyware and adware......cheers!

In computer networks, bandwidth is often used as a synonym for data transfer rate - the amount of data that can be carried from one point to another in a given time period (usually a second). This kind of bandwidth is usually expressed in bits (of data) per second (bps). Occasionally, it's expressed as bytes per second (Bps). A modem that works at 57,600 bps has twice the bandwidth of a modem that works at 28,800 bps. In general, a link with a high bandwidth is one that may be able to carry enough information to sustain the succession of images in a video presentation.

As for your reason for not being at 2mb. Your ISP may not of upgrading fully yet and that was just an email letting you know it was empending. Also it depends on your ISPs cabling, your home cabling, the distance from the modem, and quality of all lines as to if you will reach this 2mb or not.

Well bandwidth is to put in simple 'how much of data you can download/upload in one sec'
technically speaking 2mbs will never reach 2mbs in most cases it stays lower than 1mbs due to network traffic.

was the speed the same before the upgrade? Speed before could have been 50.
