I accidentally put a plastic colliander down on a hot plastic burner, and now the plastic is stuck on. I've tried scraping, peeling and chipping it off, but nothing has worked. A friend told me to just let it heat up and burn off, but I don't want to deal with the fumes, and my fire alarm is very sensitive- I don't want to be that jerk who makes the whole apartment complex clear out. Any ideas on how I get the plastic off? I'd rather not use harsh chemicals if I don't have to.

I'd rather not replace it, but I have no way of burning the stuff off outside.

try a heat gun, the kind used for vinyl tiles, to soften the plastic.

you cold place a foil on the burner, then a very hot pan. the plastic should soften quickly, and flatten out some.

you can do the above, and help by turning on the burner for 10 to 30 second. the foil is very important, it must cover all the burner plus an inch or two, it will reduce the chance of a fire.

be safe
