On a typewriter, yes. On a computer, not normally. There might be some software out there that will allow you to do that, though. The problem is that it would probably have to exist in the document as a graphic image as overstrikes are not included in most font sets. The computer can only display fonts that are loaded on the system.

in ms paint you could ...if you have a mac its appleworks.... in paint click on the A(for text) make a text box type ypur letter. I thinks theres 2 boxes at the bottom each look basicaly the same (they have circle square and triangle ...click the bottom one. now put another text box exacty over the other one (where the letter already is) and if you have to drag the text box over the other 1 until the 2 letters are over each other.

You can do this with limits in Microsoft word, but you need to choose "real" symbols. For example, to make a "cents" sign, hold down the Ctrl key and press the "/" key, then type "c". This "overlays" / and c which gives a cents sign ¢.
You can do Ctrl apostrophe followed by e, and then you get the correct ending e in resumé.

You could use text boxes with a transparent background in each. Position one over the other and voila! An H over an O!

You can do it on a typewriter. You'd need a special program to do it on a computer.
