No doubt OSU had a great regular season and based on the season they had deserved to be there. I think the time off hurt them to be physically ready or losing their star wide receiver early in the game played a part in them losing. ESPN tries to follow the stats and predicted that OSU was better than Florida. But stats don't make up for injuries or turnovers. Florida just played better last night.

Well ESPN has a contract with the big ten so maybe there is a conflict of interest.
The problem is more the BCS than the media. The BCS makes it so teams don't have to prove it on the field. You are either in the championship game or you are not. If there was a couple rounds teams like OSU would be exposed. It just defies all logic the current system.
Still it is a good point the media makes it worse because they hype up one team like OSU. The media had everyone convinced that OSU was an invincible juggernaut when actually they were just a good team.

To the dude above. USC is clearly the 2nd best team in the country. They would have done the same thing to OSU as Florida did. The Big 10 is terrible. OSU got Texas early in the season with a then very unexperienced Colt McCoy who later in the season would have had a better chance beating OSU. The win over Michigan is not a great quality win because Michigan is also very sorry. OSU has had a very weak schedule and has been overrated since day one. The SEC completely owns college football. Sure Arkansas, Alabama, and Tennessee lost in their bowl games, but all of them put up good fights and were in a position to win their games. Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Auburn, and Florida dominated their bowl games.
I'm with you, I called for a huge thumping by the Gators from day one as well. Everytime those "experts" started talking about how great the Buckeyes are I had to turn the channel. They did not know what they were talking about.
People say that it wasn't the Ohio St. they saw all year, duhh...
They did not face a good team all year!!!
The long layoff as an excuse? Please, if Ohio St. would have won they would have said it was an advantage. Florida had to play 2 more games after OSU was finished and therefore should have been more fatigued and possibly insured. Ohio St. had a chance to take more time off and prepare longer for the game. Teams in NFL don't complain about having a Bye in the playoffs and say that that layoff was too long.
The Ted Ginn excuse is just laughable. Isn't it sad that one player can cause your team to suck all of a sudden?

ESPN and other media outlets consistently said that SEC is the best conference year and year out. So as for SEC not getting the respect it deserves, I'm not sure where you're getting that. And most sports writers and announcers picked Florida to win as well. In fact, PTI actually referred to OSU as the underdog. So, I'm not quite sure what you mean by glorifying OSU. As for OSU being a weak team, they're not. They had a horrible day, in fact, statistically speaking they had their worst outing in over a decade. I'm not making excuses, Florida played an excellent game, but every team has off days. Florida got held pretty good by Auburn, and only beat South Carolina by one point.
One games outcome is not a clear indication of a teams true talent, but as the game is played, champions are decided by who plays best on that one day. Was Miami a better team then Penn State in the 1987 Fiesta Bowl? Read up on that game and tell me what you think.

Please!!!....Texas was not even #2 when they were RANKED at #2.... & I AM A DIE HARD LONGHORN FAN!!! So when OSU played Texas....it wasn't worth the hype that was built up! THE BIG TEN IS A WEAKER CONFERENCE THAN THE SEC. I love the Big 12 as well (for many obvious reasons.... I live in Texas...lol) but I have always admired the SEC....every game in the SEC Conference is crucial.
I am sure that LSU would have whipped OSU too!....as far as Herbstreit is concerned; He's just doing his job...so I am not mad at ESPN or any other sports media for that matter...they do this everyday of their lives...why are we suprised?!...
What upsets me more is HOW the heck do you rank teams for next year when you don't have a clue who is going to be what.

Sheeeeesh! How many of you sore winners are there anyway? Please , get a life. If I understand you and everybody else correctly, the SEC gets no respect from anyone but it's fans. Seems to me most of the media has said all year that the SEC was the toughest league top to bottom in the country. As for Kirk Herbstreit, he along with many others thought Ohio State was the best in the land. Last time I looked, it was still OK to have an opposite opinion from a SEC fan. It's called freedom of speech.

When was the last SEC team that needed to DEMAND respect?
It hasn't been lately. OSU beat some very good teams this year. I would say that a large majority of football fans predicted OSU to win this game.

I'm a die hard Michigan fan. Yes I do not like ohio state. But I do not think ESPN has glorified them. If anything ESPN glorifies teams like Florida St., Notre Dame, and Texas. And no OSU is not a weak team. If I do recall I think there was a stat last night that said OSU has never beat a SEC team.

Ohio State is not weak, and actually had a pretty strong schedule. The beat the # 2 team twice. Florida just wanted it more that night. It's hard to have a perfect season. When you are on top everyone is gunning for you. Don't blame the media. Ohio State deserved the respect given to them.

let me say that I am living in Columbus, but being from Pittsburgh, I am not a Buckeye fan. I watched the game last night, and anyone who says that was the real OSU team, didn't watch the other games they played this year.
Coming from an unbiased observer, they were completely awful last night, but hardly close to the play they showed in the regular season.
An interesting stat was floated here in Cbus about the Buckeyes turnovers. In 2006, they turned the ball over 16 times, and from those turnovers, they only gave up 10 points all season. Last night, they had three turnovers (1 fumble, 1 int, 1 turnover on downs) that led to 17 points.
Florida is a tough footbal team and they played a great game, but you can't jump on OSU saying they are a weak team. They just weren't ready for that game last night and Florida was!
I would like to apologize to all Steeler fans for defending OSU!!
