There are about 28 vet schools in the country, but there are many more undergraduate schools that will have the classes required to get into vet school. It doesn't matter what you major in as long as you meet the requirements of the vet school you plan to attend. As an undergraduate major many people choose animal science, biology, or chemistry because they tend to include the majority, if not all the required classes needed for vet school. After completing the required courses for vet school, which usually means earning your bachelors degree, then you can take the GRE and apply for vet school. Completing vet school and receiving a D.V.M. will take an additional 4 years. Some of the top vet schools in the nation are Cornell Uni., Uni. of Penn., Tufts Uni., Auburn Uni., Purdue Uni. and U.C. Davis. Many schools also have a program where you can apply for vet school after only 3 years of undergrad. and receive your bachelors degree during your first year of vet school, therefore receiving your D.V.M. in 7 yrs. apposed to 8 yrs.

Pretty much the same as a human doctor with different study in anotomy. Check out Purdue UNiversity. Thay have a vet program I think.

http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos183.htm has the info on vet techs, and http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos076.htm on full vets, who require a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. There are also state and local requirements in addition to the DVM degree.
