Saw an entertainment program (like ET or the Insider) the other day. They mentioned that the average wedding in the U.S. can cost about $27,000. That's pretty expensive, but there are many ways of having an inexpensive wedding, you just have to search for them. It also helps if you have friends or relatives who can help you out. A friend of mine recently got married and used a couple of her aunts for things like flowers/bouquet, and alterations. And some of their college friends were the DJ and MC. Networking and getting to know a lot of different people in different fields of work really helps out at a time like this. You may not get married right away, but it's never too soon to plan for when you do. Good luck and I hope that when you do get married, it'll be a dream come true for both of you! :-)

I went to a wedding where the bride walked in to Sarah McLachlan's "Ice Cream." And at the end, they walked out to Johnny Clegg's "I Know Why The Dog Howls At the Moon." They are both perfect wedding songs. (If you aren't familiar with the Clegg song, you should look up the lyrics. Beautiful. Not really about dogs or howling or moons!)
Congratulations!

Sunrise by The Who-> or English Rose by The Jam (well okay that one really only works if you ARE in fact English...). Both geniunely simple beautiful love songs.
Erm, don't really do the whole wedding-type-song thing, I'm more your sort of cynical type... hmm. they're the only two songs I can think of! But they are truly beautiful anyway.

First dance...Jack Johnson "Better Together" is a great song and not your typical wedding song.

My cousins used "Lovesong" by The Cure as their wedding song, but this was back in 1994.

Aisha by Cheb Khaled. I heard this song first in Tunisia in 2002 - exotic and beautiful.

It is out of your genres, but to me the best wedding song is "All I Ask of You" from the Phantom of the Opera.

Seek any recital in the instrument 'Shehnai' prevalent in the Indian sub-continent. You can try through the free software 'Limewire'. It is basically a classical instrument, but used on festive occasions, in particular marriage. You'd love it.
