No. They are not. DS lite is 1/3rd the bulk of DS and 20% lighter than the DS. It is also supposed to be brighter than the regular DS.

the ds lite is way better, because it has better graphics, a better touvch screen, a brighter screen, and it is way smaller. you can barely stuff a ds into a cargo pants pocket, but a ds lite can go in your jeans. believe me, though. get a psp. i sold my ds lite after 1 month because i got bored of it.if its something to play at work, get a gameboy micro. you can stuff those into the poclet of your tightest jeans when your boss is coming. if its for a like 6-9 year old, get them a gameboy advance sp. they will just break a ds

a nintendo ds lite has all the same features but has a brighter, larger screen and touch screen and is also smaller and more compact.
