Femodene and Jasmin affect my mood, and turn me into an emotional wreck. Are there any other good birth control methods except for the condom? Religious people, spare me your talk about abstinence as that is a lousy excuse. We are human and humans like to have s* x for pleasure.

Thanks all for great tips! My boyfriend does not mind using condoms - so he says - but frankly: I do not like them. By the time the thing is on, the mood is gone! Well, not totally but I am sure you guys (uhm, girls) know what i am talking about. The implant sounds like a good one. Will do some research!

Hey, religious people gotta do it too!
;)

Besides that though... There's always the other barrier methods, like the diaphragm, or if you're sure you're not going to want kids for six months or so, the implant (not that I've tried those personally). I think all tou can really do is chat it over with your doctor and see what works for you, every woman is slightly different so what works for one person, might not work for you.

However, I hope for your sake that all your fun is with the same guy if you're averse to using a condom...
:S

Take care,
SS

There are other birth control pills out there that you could try. Condoms and the pill are the most reliable and easiest forms. You could try the coil, depending on your age as it's generally used by women who have had their families due to a small risk of infection and infertility.

Yes! My husband and I practice Natural Family Planning (or NFP). Basically, by tracking the fertile signs of a woman's body, we time sex so as to avoid or achieve pregnancy depending on what we want. I like it because it doesn't introduce any foreign chemicals or agents into my body and it allows my husband to be part of the family-planning process too. According to Planned Parenthood which labels it a "FAM" or fertility awareness method, the temperature method by itself is 98% effective at avoiding pregnancy. The cervical mucus method by itself is 97% effective at avoiding pregnancy. NFP uses both in the sypto-thermal method so one can easily figure out that it is at least 99% effective (as effective as the best birth control methods) and this estimate is consistent with studies that I have seen posted on more "religious" websites.
By the way, condoms are NOT a good way to avoid pregnancy. The CDC recently removed them from birth control methods they recommend. In fact, they are only about 85% effective in practice, with slight variations more or less depending on the condom making.
I'm including a link to find local NFP instructors if you interested, as well as other sites with information about birth control methods.

I'm surprised to see that Yasmin would affect your moods. It's the best pill around. It is really modern and has no side effects. Are you sure your mood changes were all down to Yasmin?

Not a pill but Mirena coil highly recommended by friends, not least as it seems to do away with periods! Change it every 3 years I think (in Uk anyway)
