I have a brother in law that is very talented and he dropped out of school. Now he works 2 jobs making barely minimum wage. One is at a factory manufacturing bug spray cans and the other is at a subway. He has to fight to get hours and he probably couldn't support himself if he wanted to. Stay in school to get a better job so you don't have to work at places like that. You think school is stressful wait until you have bills but don't have a good enough job to pay them.
I also saw a study that said that high school dropouts are more likely to go to jail and have a lower life expectancy.

How old are you and how long have you got to go b4 u finish school?
I need to tell u that while home-schooling sounds great, it's not all it's cracked up to be. It isn't easier becoz there's no teachers around, it's harder because u don't have the motivation to do the work and u fall behind.
Of course it's not easy- it's not meant 2b becoz it prepares u 4 the real world where sometimes u can't be bothered or u have a deadline, but I have 2 say, school is a great learning curve 4 this.
There is also another thing to consider and that is what do u want 2 do when u leave. U need a plan and if u already have ideas in store then will u need 2 find out if u need 2 have an education 2 do it and of course u do. Some people are good at working with their hands and can do traineeships or apprenticeships where u will probably need 2 attend classes @ a college (TAFE in Australia) as well as do teh practical work in a supervised environment.
I think u should hang on as long as u can becoz I know that when I finished school in Year 8, I found it so hard to go to college and there are still some classes I can't do becoz I never done Year 11 or 12.
Good luck 2 u and make sure u tell ur parents and friends, counsellors or anyone u trust that u are having trouble and that u need and appreciate their support.

There are other options besides quitting. You sound stressed and depressed. Start by addressing those two issues. Talk to a guidance counselor at school or other trusted adult and tel them what you've written here, and get the help you need to cope every day. We all need that sometimes.
I'm going to copy something that I answered in another question:
"I'm in my early fourties and ten years into my third career. Each has been in a distinct field, and I'm probably going to be in this occupation (or some variation of it) for the rest of my life.
"If, however, tomorrow, I decided that I wanted to do something radically different, I could. I have the freedom to make that kind of change because I have a solid basic education behind my master's degree (which is not related to my undergraduate degree, by the way). And trust me, having this freedom keeps me from feeling trapped in my job when I'm having a rough few weeks or months where I think I want to chuck it all. If I REALLY want to chuck it all, I really can.
"Dreams grow and change. Don't limit your future opportunities."

At least you realize that you want to stay in school - that is a GOOD THING!
A new term is about to begin, maybe you can sign up for classes that genuinely interest you so that you can focus better?
Do you have too much extra-curricular activites? Maybe you should only focus on one or two things that you really care about?
School is a VERY important foundation for the rest of your life. If you drop out, you WILL regret it. Try talking to a school counselor and your parents about your feelings. Surround yourself with supportive friends. Take a break every once in a while.
GOOD LUCK!

Stay in school. Finishing High School is really important today. Most jobs now require that you at least have a High School Diploma College is ideal but everyone does not necessarily have to have a college degree to get a good job. You will want to make good money, so stay in school. I once thought of homeschooling my kid, but he is the only one and all kids need socialization so I didn't and it was a wise decision I made. Home schooling is good but you need to be around other people. Keep your head up things can get tough, but tough with it. Time heals all.

It is harder to be a Bum you actually work twice as hard at being a bum than you do now. They have to daily figure out where to sleep, how to feed themselves (usually a mission or a dumpster) even where they can do something as simple as get a glass of water they cant go into restaurants or any public places with out being immediately ousted, you need to look at the longer picture you will not forever be in the place you are in now. During my MOST trying times I say to myself over and over "This too shall pass". And just as you asked for some help on this forum seek out a teacher or a counselor at school you can go to and ask for help if you feel overwhelmed don't do nothing for fear of the task take it one item at a time one day at a time and you will get thru. I'll be thinking positive thoughts for you. You did GOOD asking for help here Keep your head up. THIS TOO SHALL PASS.

Set a goal for yourself. At the end of a month see how much progress you have made. Also join some clubs and activities so you can make friends and feel more involved in the school: drama club, chess club, band, newspaper, etc. This is really the best time of your life. It is far better than having to go to work everyday and trying to earn a living.

STAY IN SCHOOL!! Trust me please for the love of GOD, trust me, I dont know what grade you are in, but you are going to be 18yrs old before you know it!! The time will fly!! And you can either say to yourself, man if Id have stayed i would be graduated by now, want fries with that, or you can say Wow I did it! It was hard and I hated every minute of it but at least I did it!!!!!
It is near impossible to find a good job without a college education much less a high school diploma!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey you need to hang in there. Look at it this way its already January. I suggest you talk to a school counsellor & ask for some suggestions to get your intrest back. As for the stress try looking at a hobby or even a part time job. Something to take your mind off school..Good Luck & Always ask for help proves you're the bigger person!!!
