I don't always trust them but I do support them because with out them there would be a good chance that we would have total anarchy.

I trust the police.
Although there are some officers that give all of them a bad name, they are the exception not the rule. Less than 10% of the officers are bad ones, unfortunately the only time you hear about an officer is when it is a bad one. the same minority of cops get most of the press giving the impression that officers are corrupt.
We need to start trusting the cops more than we do, and reporting the officers that are not good or treat us wrong, it is the only way to get rid of them. We should really give the police the benefit of "innocent until PROOVEN guilty".

Well, if I had a mentally ill child, I wouldn't call the police for help-which is what happened here. Actually, there were two incidents with police in Houston. In one the suspect didn't respond(the police sais they smelled PCP) and didn't respond, was running(?), was handcuffed(?) when he was shot in the chest.
In the other the guy had a hammer, and his family called police to help get him to the mental hospital. And he was killed by police. A really similar incident happened in denver. I don't believe the police are there to "help' much of the time. The "good" cops are always willing to defend the "bad" cops so who do we trust?

that officer needs to b charged with murder he should have had othermeans of subduing the man if he felt that threatened 2 shoot he should have callin 4 back up but because he was the law he didnt feel the need 2callin but instead did what he felt was the right thing 2 do it not right the police are here 2 protect&serve not harass&murder when they learn their role as officers of the law there will be a lot less unnecessary murders by the people who took an oath 2 protect&serve

Some communities tend to act like that. A police Officer is justified in the use of deadly physical force, to prevent the imminent use of deadly physical force against himself, or another person.

as long as there is people like sheila jackson lee and quanel x in houston it will never be safe for police to do their jobs. this is why they are saying they are short a couple thousand officers and cant get people to join. they are in a lose lose situation.
the rediness of cell phone videos are going to begin to cause a lot more problems for police officers. everybody on the street has a video camera and they always get the police reacting to the actions of the criminals but never what caused them to do it. this causes angst against the police which in turn makes more people react against officers. It is only going to get worse.

Police officers are in a similar position to attorneys--everyone complains about them, and vilifies them, until they NEED one. Then it's--"What took you so long to get here?" Maybe we should all have a little respect for men and women who put their lives on the line every single day for a small paycheck and an inordinate amount of danger and abuse?

Police officers can be good or bad. They come in all different shades, but unfortunately, if you base solely on media and your own personal experience, this often leads to a feeling that all cops are bad.

I don't know if I would trust anyone in authority in this country. Isn't it the police that know who killed tupac and biggie? Do you really know if it's a police officer or a psycho dressed as police? Police officers do not need to kill the bad guy to protect themselves. Shouldn't one bullet in the leg or arm stop the predator rather than 5 bullets in the chest?

Here's your atypical liberal response..
I hate the police. They can't make ME obey the law, I'm enlightened. My intellectual prowlness transcends the need for me to live with any rules or laws! I am entitled to my rights!
Except when they catch the guy that tried to rape your little sister. Only THEN will you show any respect.
Police officers aren't out there to inflate their ego's. They aren't there for the money, they are underpaid for what they do.They put there live at risk every single day, and you should be grateful for their sacrifice.
