You'd have thought so wouldn't you?

What I want to know is, when Martin raced over to her - how was he able to just turn round and declare her dead without checking her pulse or breathing or checking for any signs of life at all!?

Just as well its not real life...

Who IS Pauline Fowler? did she really die? I think the police would insist on an autopsy. They'd need the cause of death to help find who was responsible even if it was natural causes.

Yes they would have done. Also, don't they have to do the autopsy first to find if there are suspicious circumstances BEFORE they arrest someone on suspicion of murder? I DO realise that this is a soap, but nowadays, the TV and film industry seem to do so much background in order to get the facts right.....why not soaps...Oh, this is the bit when everyone else answers 'because all soap watchers are brain dead' well.....'raspberry' to you. Some off us have nothing Else to watch in the kitchen when the geezer is watching football/cricket/golf/darts/tennis.....snore! lol

Good point, that was possibly a mess-up on the part of the script-writers or more likely, the lure of the dramatic "Stop the funeral/cremation!" scene was more important than accuracy, this being soap after all. Being accurate, an autopsy would have been required before they were let anywhere near a crematorium.

Even than there is an apparent reason of death, for example a person death in an accident would have autopsy, so in the case you describe where there seems not to be a reason it would be 100% sure that person would have one.

yes they would but this is soap land and a law on to themselves. They forget that real people actually watch and will question if wrong.

Absolutely they would have. This would have been a sudden death and they would know if something sinister had gone on.
