I would seriously question the mental health of anyone who would live with someone who committed a crime against them.Abusers never change, even though they promise you it will never happen again. It always does and continues to escalate.Living with someone who has committed a crime against you is never in your best interest.

I supppose it depends on the crime. Did he rape you? Try to kill you? Or did he just steal from you? Frankly, why would you want to live with a person like that? Sample the dating waters before settling for a person who may still be a threat to you.

i would think never , it makes no sense to me why a victim would want to at all ,if its for children they are probably better off without him .And how do you really know if they're not a threat anymore ?Some people believe people change , but would you bet your life ( or your childrens ) on it . I dont think its worth it .
good luck
