There is a reason America revolted from the Kingdom: we didn't want to do what you do.

Thankfully, America and Great Britain are fantastic allies, probably the strongest in the world. I love you guys, however, there is no sense in trashing each others' pasttimes. We like what we like and you like what you like, just as God intended. There is nothing wrong with that.

Americans do not enjoy soccer for the same reason they do not enjoy cricket or rugby: these are strategic games. American sports tend to be tactical, such as [American] Football and Baseball.

One could argue that Baseball is becoming a world sport too, as many nations are getting involved in our great sport. However, I would also argue that boxing and Formula-1 racing are more popular and certainly more representative of our many nations than either baseball or soccer [football] are.

Thoughts on this?

I assume you are using genteel as a synonym for BOOOOOOOOOOOORING!!!

I can't stand watching most sports, as my eyeballs start melting from head in boredom after about five minutes, but after watching five minutes of people 'playing' cricket once, I was close to slipping into a lengthy coma - one which most of the players already seemed to be in.

If it wasn't for the gin, I never would have made it that far.

I don't think it's the rules that are the barrier to wider acceptance of the game, I think it's the deadly dull pace and complete and total lack of activity that will keep it from ever gaining popularity in America.

As a Brit living in America, I doubt it very much. Far too complicated for over here

Haha!Too complicated? Yeah right, no its just too stupid for us to play. We prefer games where you are challenged either mentally or physically, cricket does neither.
