Well, Deion Sanders missed a year & a half with the Cowboys because he had "turf toe", so I could see a guy missing ONE game because of a messed up ankle.
I've sprained my ankle running before - turned it completely over & thought I tore ligaments.
It swelled up & I hobbled around for 2 weeks.
It hurt a helluva lot more than "turf toe" ever could.

They had pressure on Smith all game long...Ginn wouldn't have made much of a difference...he is their big play guy, but if they can hold the possession receiver, Gonzalez to 2 catches for 11 yards, I don't think Ginn Jr. wouldve had much of an effect (aside from kick returns (did you see how far away from him they kicked the 2nd kickoff?))

If you were to injure yourself, why risk injuring it more for a N.C. game? he has the NFL to look forward to, and he would be an idiot for risking his NFL career because of one game. And plus, the loss wasn't only Ginn's fault. Smith was sacked numerous times and Florida posted 41 points while Ginn would have been on the sideline to begin with.

He was on crutches, if you can't play you can't play simple as that. Doesn't matter what game it is.
