Well police force was often used, and at its worst, assassination (Dr. King, for example). Police used many tactics, including dogs and fire hoses. Others simply tried to discredit them, or defeat them politically. However, in the face of such oppression, they were able to ultimately succeed and gain equal rights for African Americans in this country

laws,intimadation,assualt and killing were the most used,i would think.
interesting fact. only one person was killed in the marches in alabama,a white housewife.
