Our birthing coach told us that nipple stiimulation can bring on labor. Sex can too. Don't worry, that baby will be coming out of there soon! They all do : )

I went 42 weeks...As soon as 40 weeks hit I tried every old wives tale I heard. Sex (lots), exercise (walking a few miles), spicy food, nipple stimulation, jumping on the bed, castor oil, raspberry leaf tea (I drank a gallon of the stuff) Nothing worked. At What the Dr. Estimated as 42 weeks 2 days I finally went into labor naturally the Day Before the Dr. was going to induce. I just think my daughter liked it in there too much and wanted to prove she could stay in and no one could force her out until she was good and ready :-).
I know it's really rough being "due" but as long as you are following what your Dr. says (I was sent for 2 "NST"s fetal non-stress tests and a "biophysical profile" ultrasound) and baby is OK don't worry it will "happen" or the Dr. will induce.
Hang in there. The end result is a beautiful and well worth the wait.

I ate Mexican- real Mexican food and went into labor 3 hours later. They did a poll in people and 65% of women reported eating Mexican food before going into labor. Otherwise- sex, sex, and walk the mall!
Ask your doctor's office nurse if you are concerned. But know this, the little ones who wait, want to be perfectly done for their momma. Just like trying to get pregnant, it just takes some time, but will eventually happen. Relax. Get a massage or pedicure. I am a licensed nail tech and there is a spot on the back of the ankle that actually stimulates contractions and uterine muscle. Have someone take two fingers, and knead the back of the ankle.
Good luck, and God bless! yay! a baby!

I dont think you can induce labour. This must be a late baby. See another doctor. Doesnt have to be just yours. And congrats! Not on the 40 weeks bit but the pregnancy bit.

Gisele...you have to remember that your due date is only an estimation. In the past, I have tried many things to induce labor and it only gets more discouraging when it doesn't work. Do you have concerns or are you just ready to have your baby? If you have concerns, by all means, talk to the Doc covering for your OB. Otherwise, (easier said than done) be patient. Take it from someone who knows. I am 31 weeks w/baby #6 and my youngest just turned 1 in December. Oh, congratulations & Good luck!

40 weeks is not an automatic eviction time for a baby. Your due date could be off by two weeks. You never know.
If your child has not come yet, then he or she is not ready to be born. If this is your first child, then you are more apt to go over. (Statistically speaking).
Just relax and try to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. A lot of women would love to be able to experience what you are going through. Your child will come when it is ready.

I promise, it will come. No one has ever been pregnant forever, although it seems like it. Your doc will induce labor if he is concerned, or would have set up plans for a colleague to do so if he was going on vacation. Chances are that your due date was misjydged due to an irregular period or something along that line. Good Luck!

I had both of my children at 42 weeks, I never tried to induce labor they will be born when they want to be born, so just relax a little, your Dr. will tell you when it is time to induce labor, if he is on vacation I am sure that he briefed another Dr. that took over for him about your pregnancy.

Well i am 40 weeks also ,as of yesterday, but other things to try if you want to induce , which you must already know is, walking, sex, and bumpy car or truck rides. soemthimes that does the trick, other than that try to get as much sleep before the event and try not to be too anxious , i sleep part will really pay off if you get lots of it before

Most babies are born anywhere from 37 to 42 weeks. So just be patient. It seems like you know all of the natural means of induction. Try taking some long walks (not alone). Sex, orgasms, and nipple stimulation are good. Baby will come when ever he/she is ready.
