My friend does this all the time. She pierced her monroe, septum, lip more than once...
I just wouldn't do it.
If you're going to do it at home, have someone else do it.
Put the needle (make sure to use a real, hollow, piercing needle that matches up the gg of your jewerly) in alcohol, and burn both sides before piercing your lip. And my god throw it away afterwards. Even if you THINK you can get it clean again, its dull.
Make sure to wash it out with seasalt and use listerine after anything enters your mouth.
Once again, you know it and said it, you should wait.
You could really make a mess out of something that's a teeny bit painful to be playing with.

It's really dangerous to do that, you could easilly infect it, why won't you go and have it done professionally? It's not that expensive, and you can almost guarantee that it will be safe. On the other hand, DIY will have the opposite percentage.

Just because it worked on your friend, it doesn't mean it would for you and it could leave you scarred for life.

Go and get it done professionally, or you'll regret it.

You should really get a professional to do that. All kinds of things can go wrong.

Last year there was this girl where I live who pierced her nipple herself. Anyway, within a week she had gotten an infection and died.

It's definitely not worth taking the chance to save a few dollars.

Dude...don't even try it because if you put too much force into it you'll not only pierce your lip, but also your nose, and your eyelid. Take it from someone who's experienced this first hand...just see a professional.

although i would NOT tell you to do it yourself if you don't know what you were doing, but you need to get clamps and a hollow needle (probably a 16ga...maybe 14ga...depending on your perfernce)
You could check out bmezine.com to find the needles and they are pretty cheap there too. So that's nice. You'll also need a hooped ring. DO NOT use earring studs. It's horrible for the healing process.

And one last thing...just ask your parents to get it done (because I'm just assuming you are underage.)

If you need to know anything else please let me know!
