If I were you, I would get a separate account and keep your debit card hidden somewhere else besides your purse and change your debit pass-code and turn off it's credit capabilities - banks will do this for you. Is he taking your card because he doesn't have one or because he thinks you overspend? You can solve all monetary issues by having separate accounts. That's what my husband and I do. We allocate certain monies from each account into a separate account allocated for bills - which doesn't have debit / credit card accessibility. Then the rest of the monies left over in our accounts is our own to do with what we wish. Problem solved.

I'll admit, I do this repeatedly (I tend to misplace things), but I tell him when I do it. It would suck to go to pay for something and not realize until you are at the counter that you don't have your debit card.

Sounds like you can't be trusted with the debit card. Why is he taking it out? Not enough info.

I have a man who is finanically totaly irresponsible. He would take mine. Then we opened a joint account and he has a check card for that. I dont put any money in there though, so he can have it all he wants. Its HIS problem. But yes, I would get pissed and have!! And that aint pretty.

I wouldn't get angry about it if my husband did that. We have a joint checking account and I use his card when I lose mine. But if you are angry with your husband, tell him! Ask him why he always takes your debit card. If you guys have a joint checking account, he might just misplace his and know that he can use yours. If you have separate checking accounts, ask him why he wants to use yours and not his. You need to talk to him about it if it's bothering you.

Why does your husband have to ask? Is it really that important that it should upset you? Don't sweat the small stuff. My husband is a wonderful provider and he is the best husband. Take care and I wish you well.

yeah, it is annoying.
especially when you are in the check out line at the grocery store and you don't have money or a check book on you, and you have to tell the clerk to void the entire thing.
try and keep some cash on you at all times. hide it in a place he won't look. don't keep it in your purse. maybe in a small box or envelope under the driver seat of your car.

my first question would be why is he taking the card?
Ask him and see what he says. Communication is the best thing for a long relationship.

I would! I hate when he spends money without thinking, hey that money could have been intended for something else!
